The Grace of God

I don’t know if I can adequately describe how good it feels to know that God looks at me with love. The fact that He’s forgiven me of so much is a miracle. I, like most of us, have done some really dumb and quite sinful things in my time, yet the grace of God is abiding and it never runs out. God is good, all the time.

God’s grace is what makes me want to be better. It makes want to live up to how He sees me. Nothing in my life has given me such drive as God’s love and grace to be a better man. It’s the only thing that’s ever given me the strength I need every single day to make the right choices in the face of temptation. It’s God alone who has made the way for me, and it’s Him alone who cares enough to constantly maintain that path and to put me back on course when I inevitably go wandering through the wilderness.

I am born again in the light of heaven, and God’s favor shines upon me. And that feels amazing. God promises that He no longer looks at our sin once we are born again. He doesn’t see it. He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us, He Who willingly did just that. I don’t deserve it. You don’t deserve it. But it’s there all the same.

So I keep that truth at the forefront as often as possible because it’s my compass, my map, my north star. God is the Guide of my life. I don’t deserve what He’s done but I’m not going to not accept His gift to spend forever with Him, either. I humble myself before Him, knowing what awaits should I turn away. I have strayed, and slid back, more than once, but I have never intentionally turned away and rejected Him. And He has never let me go.

That’s His promise to all of His children, and that is nothing short of beautiful and so much more than that. If you click the link at the top of this post it’ll take you to a video for one of my favorite songs. The chorus goes like this:

Your forgiveness
Is like sweet, sweet honey on my lips
Like the sound of a symphony to my ears
Like holy water on my skin

That is an apt description. God’s forgiveness is good. In fact, I can’t think of a single greater thing to experience on this Earth.

So I guess this is just a post about how happy I am, thanks to God.

Until next time,
JP
